Everyone had a great time learning how to adjust their trim and different kicks to avoid disturbing the bottom. The response we got from members was very good so we will be looking into another evening for the Winter 2015 semester.

UVic Scuba Buoyancy Clinic

When:                                   Wednesday November 5th @ 6:30pm
Where:                                  Meet in the boardroom downstairs in the McKinnon Building
Cost:                                       $5 if you have your own gear, $20 if you need to rent gear and tank, $5 tank rentals
Certification Level:        Certified divers of all levels will benefit greatly from this event

  • It is highly recommended you come with the equipment you have already so we can help you get the most from what you are already working with. Remember to bring your drysuit as well (and a light layer of clothing for underneath).
  • There will be various fins, BCD's and other equipment to try out. Every diver is different and prefers different equipment - the best way to figure out which equipment you like best is to try as much as possible.

Join UVic Scuba and Instructor Tyler Preston on a fun night of classroom theory, videos and practical pool experience. To master buoyancy and trim it takes a combination of technique, setting up your equipment the right way and lots of practice.  It is a good goal to strive for because you can save energy, air and the environment. UVic Scuba will be putting on a buoyancy clinic at the McKinnon Pool (UVic) that will not only help divers practice and perfect their trim based on their current experience and equipment, but will be a great opportunity to come out and test all sorts of gear such as fins to enable techniques such as helicopter turns and going backwards. To make it even more fun, we'll add a little competition factor into the evening, with an obstacle course competition to really help demonstrate your skills.
