Wreck Trek

Come dive the HMCS Annapolis and other great sites in the Vancouver area!
The April 2015 sinking of the HMCS Annapolis brings great diving opportunity to BC Divers. In particular, Open Water certified divers should be jumping for joy as this ~400 ft long helicopter carrying wreck is largely within 60 feet of the surface!

Vancouver Plans

We are going to be quite flexible with this trip. We know many people will be at home in Vancouver for the Thanksgiving weekend and will not need to stay in a hotel or travel with the group. These people can meet us for the diving and only pay for the cost of gear rentals and charter.

Also, we know many people will want to see the sights in Vancouver, possibly visit the aquarium or see Stanley Park. Due to this, we will plan Saturday tentatively for an optional dive; however, if the consensus is that people want to go shopping and sight seeing, we will do just that!

Trip Cost

Early bird price: $195
*must give a $60 non-refundable deposit by August 15th, 2015 to cover the cost of hotel bookings.

Included in the trip is ferry costs to and from Vancouver,  gas costs for your driver, 2 dive charter and one nights stay at a 3 star downtown area hotel.  This does not include the cost of rentals, but does include the cost of additional air fills if required.

Diver Requirements
Divers must meet the following requirements
  • Be a UVic Scuba member.
  • Certified as an Open Water Diver.
  • Have a minimum of 8 logged dives.
  • Have completed 6 drysuit dives.
  • For divers with fewer than 25 dives, have done 2 cold water dives in the last 30 days.
  • If diving beyond 60 ft, must have a bottom timer and tables or a dive computer.
If you do not meet some of these requirements, there will be many opportunities to satisfy them by participating in our September club dives and charters. If you are already Open Water certified through the club, you must only complete two additional drysuit dives and four dives in total (as you have already done 4 cold water dives during your course). In the spirit of ensuring everyone has fun, if you do not have any cold water diving experience, we ask that you complete 6 drysuit dives before coming on this trip. We can make exceptions on an individual basis.
